Drugstore Haul

Today I'm back with another mini makeup haul and review with swatches! I've been trying some cult favourites recently and feel it's only necessary for me to share my opinions with you! Here is what I picked up in my latest drugstore haul!

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick - 'Don't Pink Of It'
This purchase was definitely made in favour of all the great reviews I had read about it. I don't usually stray towards the Bourjois stand but as soon as I saw all of the great reviews and the flawless advertising of this product I knew I'd be paying a visit. I picked up the shade 'Don't Pink Of It' simply because it was the most nude shade in the collection I found and thought it would suit my skintone best. As soon as I swatched it on my hand I was in love with not only the colour but the formula as well, it was only when I got home that my opinion completely changed... On the lips the formula feels completely different. The product feels exactly as the name suggests, like 'velvet'. Now I don't know about you, but for me that is a very weird sensation to feel on my lips. I much prefer it when you can't feel the product on your lips personally. The colour also looks a lot more pink on the lips than it did when I swatched it on my hand which I am also not a fan of unfortunately. For the £8.99 price tag I definitely wouldn't say this product is worth the hype.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - 'Cannes'
I have wanted to pick this shade up for so long and last week it finally came back into stock in my local Boots. Since NYX expanded into the UK I have become a massive fan of the brand and have slowly been building up my collection. Because I am so fussy with my lip products this is the only lip cream NYX that I own, although I will definitely be buying more! I wanted to try the formula first before I invested in the lip creams and submitted myself into the hype. I love this product, I love the colour, I love the formula, I love the smell and, for £5.50, I love the price. The formula feels moisturising even though it's matte and for a drugstore product the durability is also fairly impressive.  I will say that compared to other peoples swatches, 'Cannes' looks darker and more nude on me. I can't wait to try more of these lip creams, the next colours on my list are 'Zurich', 'Rome' and 'Stockholm'.

NYX Baked Blush - Wanderlust
Staying on the brand NYX I also picked up my first ever blush would you believe it. I never really have had to wear blush due to naturally being flushed (probably because I'm forever embarrassing myself) anyway. However, since approaching adolescence *cries* my complexion has finally started to even out. I picked up this baked blush, not just because of the name, but because it has a slight bit of shimmer in it which I thought would blend with my highlighter, 'Champagne Pop' by Becca, just wonderfully. It does. I feel like if you are not massively fond of or are nervous when using blush and potentially over doing it then this NYX one is perfect for you. It is a very delicate pink and isn't massively pigmented although it is build-able, therefore making it easy not to over step the mark and still get a real natural look.

Essie Nail Lacquer -
Now I don't usually rave about nail polishes, but this one I couldn't help but mention. I bought this while travelling Europe because 9 hour train journeys can sometimes get a little bit boring and my nails wanted to feel pretty again. Given that I didn't have enough money at the time to purchase the top coat as well, this nail polish on its own lasted almost a whole week without chipping, which to me is quite impressive considering I was travelling and my nails would have taken quite a beating.  I very rarely wear nail polishes which aren't nude since I don't really enjoy painting my nails and therefore I may as well paint them a colour which goes with everything. As for this nude in particular the colour comes off really well and, unlike a lot of nudes, it isn't sheer.

BarryM Dazzle Dusts - 'Athena' & 'Gold Iridescent'
I may or may not have spoken about these in a favourites before but they are amazing. I already own 'Bronze' and I am obsessed with it, I slowly want to get every single colour in the collection. If you are anything like me and love a bit of dazzle and sparkle then you NEED these dusts! They are incredibly beautiful, and with just a spritz of Mac's 'fix plus' spray they last all day on your lid. There's not much else for me to say other than if you are looking for a second opinion then check Melissa-lou's blog post about them because she's the one that introduced me to their amazingness!

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24HR Eyeshadow - On and On Bronze

I have been meaning to try these for quite some time but was always scared off by the creamy feel of them, however I decided to take the plunge last week and since then have fallen in love. As advertised the eyeshadow really does last 24 hours. I love the colour of this, my go to makeup look almost always consists of bronzey, browny colours and this will add to my collection of colours perfectly. I will definitely be picking up more of these!

Overall I'm really glad I picked these products up - apart from the Bourjois one but lets not talk about that. I would definitely say though that the NYX lip cream is, by far, my favourite and if you haven't picked one up already then you definitely should change that.

Thanks for reading!
